CardTrader: what it is, how it works and how Amber Road is different

CardTrader is an online trading card marketplace born in Italy: you buy from sellers all over the world and, with CardTrader Zero, receive in one shipment the cards bought from different sellers. Amber Road does another job: it tells you what a card is worth, so you know whether the price you are about to pay is fair.

How CardTrader works

On CardTrader you can buy directly from a seller, who ships you the cards, or use CardTrader Zero: sellers send the cards to CardTrader's hub, which checks them and sends them on to you all together. That way you pay one shipment even if you bought from many sellers.

Sellers pay a commission, higher for CardTrader Zero sales; buyers also pay a small protection fee per card. The current figures are on CardTrader's official page about payments and fees.

What you don't find on CardTrader

Like every marketplace, CardTrader shows its own sellers' prices. It doesn't compare them with sales completed elsewhere and doesn't tell you whether the same card costs less on another site.

How Amber Road is different

Amber Road doesn't sell or ship anything. Every day it collects the public data of several marketplaces, CardTrader included, and for every Pokémon and Yu-Gi-Oh! card it shows the market value in euro, its history, and completed sales apart from active listings.

You also find eBay deals below market value, price alerts on the cards you follow and the catalogue of sealed products.

Using them together

If you are preparing a CardTrader Zero order, first check on Amber Road the value of the most expensive cards in your cart: it takes a few seconds to see whether a price is in line with the market or whether another offer is worth looking for.
