Magic: Marvel: Darkhold Destiny announced for April 9, 2027, with four Commander decks

Wizards of the Coast has announced Magic: The Gathering | Marvel: Darkhold Destiny, the next Universes Beyond set, built around the magical and darker corner of the Marvel Universe. It releases on April 9, 2027, and preorders are already open at local stores and online retailers.

What sets it apart is the story: instead of adapting an existing plot, the set tells an original tale created together with Marvel, which also introduces a brand-new character. That character's origin will be told in a Marvel comic written by Jackson Lanzing and Collin Kelly, out digitally in February 2027 and in print in April 2027. Magik is among the confirmed characters; Wizards also mentions new Booster Fun treatments, Commander decks and Scene Boxes, and has already published a first card image gallery.

According to MTG Rocks, going by the packaging that was shown, there are four Commander decks: Lords of Hel (led by Hela), Midnight Sons (Blade), Gods of Asgard (Thor) and Strange Academy (Doctor Strange). The same site names the Time Stone as the set's Headliner card and, besides regular boosters, Collector Boosters, Bundles and Draft Night Kits, lists two Scene Bundles and an Arcanum Bundle. The number of new cards per deck going around online comes from a Reddit post and has not been confirmed by Wizards.
