Magic: God Packs arrive in 2027 and foil commons and uncommons leave regular boosters

On October 5, 2026 Wizards of the Coast announced how Magic boosters will change starting with Nauctis: The Sunken Realm, the first set of 2027. Wizards states that suggested retail prices are not changing.

The headline addition is the God Pack, a booster where every nonbasic card is a rare or mythic rare. One in every 1,000 regular boosters will be one, holding a celebration card, 10 non-foil rares or mythics, 2 non-foil Booster Fun rares or mythics and 2 foil Booster Fun ones. In Collector Boosters the rate is one in 300, with a celebration card, a foil land, 3 foil default-frame rares or mythics, 3 non-foil Booster Fun cards and 5 foil Booster Fun cards. God Packs apply to Magic Multiverse sets; for Universes Beyond sets Wizards points to 2028.

Play Boosters go back to being called simply Booster Packs. Their wildcard slot will be able to hold traditional foil Japan Showcase cards, until now exclusive to Collector Boosters, and foil rares and mythics will show up more often. In exchange, foil commons and uncommons are removed and a foil card in every pack is no longer guaranteed.

Collector Boosters lose three cards, two foil commons and one foil uncommon, with no replacement. Wizards says the cut frees up printing capacity for the new features.
