Amber Road TCG
About us
Amber Road TCG is a price index for trading cards: for every Pokémon and Yu-Gi-Oh! card it shows what it is worth today and how its price has moved over time. It is an independent site, born in Italy, that does not sell cards: it is there to tell you whether a price is fair before you buy or sell, wherever you do it.
What you find on Amber Road
Everything on the site is free to read, with no sign-up. An account is only needed to follow cards and get alerts.
- The market value of every card, by language, condition and printing, with a chart of its history.
- Rankings: the most valuable cards and the ones rising fastest, for each game.
- Sealed products (booster boxes, packs, Elite Trainer Boxes, tins, decks) with their price and what is inside.
- Deals: eBay listings below market value, checked again every two hours so sold ones go away.
- Alerts: follow a card and we write to you when it reaches your price or moves a lot.
- News, guides and comparisons with the other card sites.
How we compute prices
Prices come from the public data of the main card markets, for example Cardmarket, TCGplayer, CardTrader and eBay. We collect them every day and process them automatically.
They are indicative values: they can be late or wrong, and what a card really sells for depends on the single copy. If a price looks wrong, write to us: we will check it.
- Sales and listings stay apart: what a card sold for is one thing, what someone is asking for it is another. We do not blend them into one number.
- A card's market value is that of a Near Mint copy, computed on completed sales in Europe. Sales in the United States are shown separately.
- Every printing, language and condition has its own price: a first edition or a Reverse Holo is not worth the same as the regular version.
- A price far above the average of the last 30 days is almost always one outlier sale: in that case we use the average.
- Graded cards have an index of their own and do not enter the value of the ungraded card.
- Everything is in euros, with the history kept day by day.
How the site pays for itself
Amber Road does not sell cards and takes no commission on what you buy. Links to eBay are affiliate links: if you buy after following one, eBay may pay us a commission, at no extra cost to you. The commission does not affect the prices shown or the order of the listings.
Amber Road is not affiliated with or endorsed by The Pokémon Company, Nintendo or Konami, nor by the markets the data comes from.
Where we want to go
The price index is the first step. If the project grows as it should, the next phase is a marketplace: a place for collectors to buy and sell cards, along the lines of Cardmarket but more innovative.
The ideas we are working on: checking cards with the camera before they are listed, recognising a card from a photo, prices suggested by the index while you write a listing, and more protection for buyers.
There is no date yet. First we want prices to be reliable and the site to be useful every day; then we will add more games and, when the time comes, the marketplace.
Who is behind it
@neodev
Founder · runs the whole site
For now Amber Road is the work of one person: on the site you find me as @neodev. I take care of everything, from development to price data, from news to support, down to the social profiles.
I collect cards too, and Amber Road was born from a question I asked myself every time before buying: is this price fair? I wanted one place that answered clearly, in euros, without opening five different sites.
Being alone means not everything arrives at once, but also that I read every message myself.
We are looking for collaborators
Amber Road is open to anyone who wants to lend a hand. No résumé needed: what matters is knowing cards well, or being good at something the site can use.
- Experts of a game (Pokémon, Yu-Gi-Oh!, and the next ones we add) to check prices, printings and rarities.
- People who write news and guides, or follow releases and leaks.
- People who shoot photos and videos of cards, or make content for social media.
- Developers and designers.
- Shops, creators and communities who want to do something together.
Write to support@amberroadtcg.com and tell us in a couple of lines who you are and what you would like to do.
